I grew up with both my parents in Mbarara. I went to Mbarara Preparatory school and was always so involved in science projects.
I remember one time when I was involved in making home-made liquid soap, I felt so cool at the time.
I am 20 years old and currently pursuing Medical Radiography.
I like hanging with friends, travelling, trying new food, getting a hair-do, cleaning and chilling at home.
For my secondary I went to Nabisunsa Girls’ School. This experience was a fun one and I met lots of people from different parameters. Religion to be specific, the muslim community was very welcoming and fun to be around.
All this while, I built my self-esteem and learnt how to fend for myself in adult-hood.

Life as a medical student is very demanding but some-how I manage. On the bright side, the excitement around dealing with humans and pathologies is indescribable. This could not be exciting for some of you.
In my high school, I worked with several UNHCR agencies on programmes to uplift the livelihoods of children among other vulnerable categories. I picked a special interest in this and enjoyed working there and I learned a lot from this experience.
I then decided to apply the knowledge and work with children facing similar issues to those in refugee camps. That is when I started Healing Hearts International, a charity solely focused on this.
I have made very good friends on this journey and also learnt a lot about management, graphic and administration.
Working in charity and trying to balance other aspects of life can get very overwhelming.
I have battled procrastination and it is something I am working on as it hinders productivity.
I am very open to learning and like everyone else, I make mistakes. I am equally trying hard like any other young adult out there. I get scared when I am faced with various situations but I seek help and I also pat myself on the back when I do not get any.
I would like to say that you should follow your gut feeling, the voices inside of you are your best friends and no one will have your back like yourself. So try not to let yourself down.
To all the people having it rough, it is almost the same for most of us.
Just remember to “Celebrate your wins, do not leave any out. Celebrate them all”
